A tangible, value-added service for merchants that doubled as brand exposure — integrated cleanly into the PCI-DSS compliance journey.
Challenge. As a white-labelled provider, Sysnet had little brand recognition and few opportunities for exposure. The existing Wi-Fi Porter product wasn't cost-effective. They needed something that added merchant value, reinforced the brand, and fit the compliance flow — without raising costs.
What I did
- Ran market analysis against existing solutions (including Wi-Fi Porter) to find the gaps worth closing.
- Mapped the PCI-DSS journey to pinpoint where a smart certificate would land with most impact.
- Prototyped a certificate with a writable NFC chip for seamless Wi-Fi credential sharing, plus versatile wall-poster and desk-stand display options.
- Ran a cost analysis to keep it economically viable at scale.
Impact
- branded certificates put Sysnet's identity into every merchant environment
- customers got seamless, secure Wi-Fi access via a tap
- NFC chips redirect to the merchant's Protect page, surfacing cyber-security scores
- under $1 per unit through reusable NFC cards and bulk-produced foldable displays
